Wildly Organic Brazil Nuts are grown in South America and represent the highest quality organic Brazil Nuts available. Our Brazil Nuts are shelled with care, yielding high-grade, large whole nuts. Wildly Organic Brazil nuts are only harvested once each year in late fall. Because of this, we do everything possible to ensure these nuts maintain their "just picked" quality all year long. We store all of our nuts in vapor-barrier pouches and test the moisture level before packaging. Brazil nuts are filled with micronutrients and have over 767% of the recommended daily value for Selenium per serving!
Sally Fallon and the Weston A. Price Foundation suggests nuts be soaked and dehydrated at low temperatures. Their reasoning? Phytic acid occurs naturally in organic Brazil nuts to protect them until they’re ready for germination. Phytic acid binds to minerals and transforms into a phytate, which inhibits your body’s ability to absorb some of the nut’s nutrients.
After several cycles of soaking and rinsing and allowing the nuts a little bit of air, germination will occur. This starts to break down the enzyme inhibitors as the nuts release their protective shield and unlock stored nutrients to prepare for growth. This process creates "activated” nuts.
Once the soaking process is complete, we dehydrate the nuts slowly at a very low temperature to extend the shelf life and give them a delicate crunch. The low-heat method will preserve the nutrients and ensure that these delectable organic Brazil nuts remain entirely raw.
